Admissions
The institution decides whether the Uzbek qualification gives equivalent university access. Supplementary examinations, a university-preparation programme or proof of eligibility for the same field in Uzbekistan may be required. German or English proficiency must match the programme.

1. Shortlist a recognised institution and programme. 2. Confirm how the Uzbek qualification is assessed and prepare translations. 3. Submit the admission application and satisfy any academic or language conditions. 4. Accept the offer, pay any required deposit and obtain the institution documents needed for immigration. 5. Apply for the Residence Permit – Student through the competent Austrian representation, normally before entering Austria. 6. Arrange accommodation, insurance and all post-arrival registration steps.
Visa from Uzbekistan
For study longer than six months, Uzbek citizens normally need a Residence Permit – Student and may also need an entry visa to collect it. Admission, accommodation, insurance, sufficient funds and legalised civil documents are central requirements.

Financial evidence
For 2026, students under 24 generally show EUR 722.58 per month and students aged 24 or over EUR 1,308.39 per month for 12 months in advance. Extra funds are required when accommodation exceeds the official reference amount, and health-insurance costs must also be covered.
Work and post-study opportunities
The employer normally applies to the Public Employment Service. Work must remain compatible with studies, and the residence permit itself is not a work permit.
Graduates may generally extend the student permit for 12 months to seek work or start a business, then switch to a qualifying work title.
Student life
Student residences, shared flats and private rentals are common. Comprehensive health insurance is mandatory; eligible students may use Austrian student self-insurance, while others need equivalent private coverage.
Climate and packing
Austria has a temperate continental and alpine climate. Winters can be cold and snowy, especially outside Vienna and in mountain regions; summers are generally warm with occasional heat.
