Admissions
Each institution evaluates the Uzbek secondary or university qualification. Requirements may include a credential evaluation, English test, essays, recommendations and optional or required SAT or ACT scores. Community-college or pathway entry can be available where direct university entry is not.

Scholarships
Funding is mainly institution-based through merit awards, need-based aid, athletic awards where eligible and graduate assistantships. Compare the net annual cost, renewal conditions and whether aid is available to international students.

1. Shortlist a recognised institution and programme. 2. Confirm how the Uzbek qualification is assessed and prepare translations. 3. Submit the admission application and satisfy any academic or language conditions. 4. Accept the offer, pay any required deposit and obtain the institution documents needed for immigration. 5. After admission and financial certification, receive Form I-20, pay the SEVIS fee, submit DS-160 and attend the F-1 visa interview. 6. Arrange accommodation, insurance and all post-arrival registration steps.
Visa from Uzbekistan
Uzbek citizens normally need an F-1 visa for academic study. The school must be SEVP-certified and issue Form I-20 after admission and financial certification; the applicant then pays SEVIS, completes DS-160 and attends an interview.

Financial evidence
The institution sets the estimated first-year cost shown on Form I-20. Applicants normally show liquid funds for at least the first academic year and a credible funding plan for the remainder through bank, sponsor, scholarship, loan or assistantship evidence.
Work and post-study opportunities
Never start off-campus employment without the required DSO and government authorisation. CPT and OPT must relate to the field and follow timing, reporting and unemployment rules.
F-1 graduates may receive 12 months of OPT; eligible STEM graduates may add a 24-month extension, up to 36 months total.
Student life
Campus housing, private student apartments and shared rentals are common. The US has no universal student health system; universities often require their plan or proof of equivalent insurance, and out-of-pocket care can be expensive.
